Political Party Nomination
A presidential candidate nominated by an organized political party may be placed on the general election ballot. Each political party must certify the names of the candidate for president and vice president and presidential electors to the secretary of state no less than 60 days prior to the election.
Petition Access
Petition / Independent Candidate Access
An independent presidential candidate may o btain ballot access by filing with the secretary of state no less than 60 days before the election a petition containing the signatures of 1,000 qualified electors. The petition must be accompanied by the names of the individual who will serve as presidential electors.
Write-In
Write-In Rules
A write-in vote will be counted in the event of the death, resignation, withdrawal, or removal of any candidate whose name was printe d on the official ballot
